->I knew the solution to almost every problem.
->I could help my fellow folks through pretty much anything in life and
->Last but definitely not the least, I found MYSELF!
Somewhere in the middle of these books, I found me.
RECOMMENDATIONS are in no particular order.
Read the description and see which book has your name ALL OVER IT. Always remember, you "think" you choose the book but actually it's the book that chooses you.
BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS:
BUY YOURSELF THE DAMN FLOWERS
I strongly recommend this book to those who want to:
1-Know a less than ordinary girl who made it BIG in life aka Tam Kaur’s story. The kind of cards she was dealt with in childhood and how she overcame her adversities & negative belief system is commendable. This book shows you how a person might look like an epitome of perfection and sorted ‘on the outside’ but has really had a long taxing journey on the inside. I personally enhoyed hearing this book in her own voice on Audible. Tam has amazing videos on YouTube which she uploads 1-2 times a week. Must watch! Oh & she has a podcast too.
2-This book will help you to understand the actual difference between acting from a place of self love
and
acting from a place of narcissistic traits. She dated a narcissit and shares everything you need to know about narcissitic people very CLEARLY. This book also helps you in:
3-Understanding how to start the journey of self love (legit steps have been mentioned in this book).
4-Importance spending a whole year being SINGLE.
5-Setting the bar and your standards really high.
6-Knowing how to not to feel broken after a break up.
7-Healing from repeated toxic patterns.
8-The importance of healing in self love.
I love how honest and raw Tam been about her vulnerabilities and shortcomings.
Kudos and more power to our diva Tam Kaur.
WHY MEN MARRY BITCHES
I would urge every girl to read this book so that she understands why some girls appear far more attractive to the opposite sex. But you know it’s not about attracting men…
This book is more about gaining confidence. Confidence in women can help them move mountains.
This book is about confidence girls, not being bitchy. It’s funny & catchy but also very important & impactful. It encourages women to come into their own unabashedly.
In today’s day and age, there’s so much confusion among girls/women as to how to be and what men want. This book is going to give you all the answers. It has a lot of surveys done on men and candid conversations with men.
I read this book back in 2015 and I would still read it again but i remember it too well at the moment 😇. Maybe in a few years I will pick up a revised edition again.
All girls/women should read it and then gift it to the other girls in the their life.
THE BIG LEAP
Sometimes, we want to grow (money wise/career wise/name-fame wise/ spiritually) but don’t understand why we are unable to!
If you feel like you’ve hit a glass ceiling and are unable to break that to grow, this book is for you.
{You know what a “glass ceiling” is?
It’s a figure of speech which means an invisible glass ceiling that prevents you from growing in life.}
The Big Leap is actually a very old book that talks about how our belief system comes in the way of our growth with simple yet profound examples.
You know how they say that ‘you are the mountain’ (meaning you’re the obsatcle in your own life)… this book explains that very concept with many many many examples of people (client cases).
This book teaches you that anything you desire, ANYTHING, can be yours provided you are not blocking it with your limited thinking and narrow perspective.
All my fellow thetahealers WILL LOVE AND UNDERSTAND this book really well because the way thetahealing practitioners speak is so similar to the way this book approaches growth.
THE PERILS OF BEING MODERATELY FAMOUS - SOHA ALI KHAN
Firstly I loved the title - Perils of being moderately famous.
Moderately famous 🤣
What an honest confession and display of vulnerabilities on Soha’s part👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻
It’s interesting how we perceive people (esp celebrities) based on what we hear from others around and the group conscious judgements. But in reality, everyone is so different and comes with their unique set of experiences.
Success or failure is such a man made concept full of illusions and improper intentions.
Truth is that there’s no success or failure - only growth or the lack of it. I knew this aready and this book also helped me experience that through Soha’s life.
I was surprised to learn about Soha’s background (so interesting and full of legends both on paternal side and maternal side).
The chapter on her father Late Mr. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi made me weep in the back seat of a cab in Thailand which is where I was hearing this book on Audible. I love Audible by the way.
Her chapter on love (marriage with Kunal Khemu) bleeds of frankness and truth! Her frankness about the inner workings of her marriage is so sincere & frank that it will kick you in the gut if you have ever lied about or over glorified your own relationships. Soha pushes you to be honest with yourself through this book.
(It may sound like I have been paid to say all this but hand on heart, I haven’t been paid a penny to review anything ever. In fact, I borderline envy lives of those who get paid to review 🤤)
Anyway, I really recommend you to read/hear ‘The Perils of being moderately famous’ by Soha Ali Khan if you feel drawn to the book and my little description here.
Her life may not be the definition of fame and success our society/ group consciousness deems fit but Soha’s story is full of rich experiences and in touch with reality in the most unique way possible.
Long rant cut short, her story is UNIQUE!
It’s 11:11 as I write this and that’s my confirmation from the Universe that I had to share this book recommendation.
PALACE OF ILLUSIONS
Sometimes we hear/read marvellous reviews about a book but don’t connect with it.
Sometimes we read/hear marvellous reviews, purchase the book but don’t get around to reading it, until it’s time, the right time.
Having bought this book YEARS ago (5 years back after a very revered client suggested it to me), only after reading a review of this by <A BOOK THIEF> on Instagram, I decided…maybe it’s time to read it.
Some believe in mythology, some don’t. Some believe Mahabharata never happened, some would argue it very much did. I like to receive information and opinion with an open mind and only absorb what sits well with my conscience. This book is about Draupadi (or how she liked being referred to … Panchali’s) life. They say Draupadi was a grey character with lots of flaws. She carries the burden of being the reason behind the Great War… Mahabharat but when you get to visit childhood and upbringing of a person, you realise why they are the way they are. Understanding Panchali’s journey made me truly realise how non-judgemental I actually am. When I was reading reviews about this book everyone pointed out how imperfect Draupadi was and her dark side and how well the author has done to describe Panchali’s actions. When I read the book, I found myself loving and truly truly truly understanding Draupadi. This book is full of Lord Krishna’s visitations, advice and energy. I found myself crying at times because I too would love to experience such guidance. I always wanted to understand Mahabharata but didn’t know where to go. I started listening to an amazing podcast which had 100++ episodes or so but it was too long and higgeldy piggeldy for me to continue! I strongly recommend this book to anyone who is interested and impatient to know what happened in the Hindu mythology just within 400 pages. Read this book with an open mind and understand every character. The ending of this book was my favourite part. Gave me peace and solace.
Lots of wisdom if you allow yourself WITHOUT judgement.
FOREST OF ENCHANTMENTS
The moment I finished Palace of Illusions (Mahabharata from Draupadi’s perspective), I knew I had to read this one as well since it’s by the same author.
This is Ramayana from Sita’s perspective. This is SITAYANA.
We all know Ramayana from the tv serials we grew up watching which is why I wanted to take matters into my own hands and understand our epic in a deeper way … from Sita Ma’s perspective.
I recommend anyone who’s interested in our mythology go pick this book up. I had to work on my judgment towards Lord Rama’s actions but I guess all of it also had a purpose - on Earth, even the greatest of ascended masters are clouded by validation and “log kya kahenge” mental block.
THE 7 HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO
Reading fiction after reading countless non-fiction, self help books is a lot more charming that one would think; especially if most of those non-fiction books have been on mindset and human psychology. Imagine being a healer and then viewing every story from the perspective of a healer; that’s my state of mind. The 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo put all my non judgmental skills to test. The protagonist of this book, an actress by the name of Evelyn Hugo makes some really “interesting” choices to escape a dangerous reality that she’s born into. It’s so easy to judge a person based on their relationship choices but if you look into the WHY, you realise, given the situation, you probably would have done something similar. This book is an icon among bibliophiles and rightfully so. Last year, I had picked this book to purchase but put it back down because I wasn’t sure, maybe I wasn’t ready. And then a review of this book by @a.book.thief_ (Instagram Account) urged me to purchase and start this book.
If you look closely, you will see my lip marks on this book because I hugged it thrice and kissed it before putting it down.
What. A. Book. If you really want to understand people, emotions, bad decisions, desperation, what lust for money, power and greed can do to people… pick this up. This book holds the potential to make you less judgmental ‘cos the moment you read the title you begin to judge a woman for having 7 husbands. After 150 pages in… you will understand her reasoning for each husband + a lot more. This book is just pure display of raw & honest human emotions.
The characters of this book will always live in my mind & my life RENT FREE!
I OWE YOU ONE
What a fantastic read! I strongly recommend this book in between heavy reads or just for you to have a hearty laugh and believe in the possibility that-
1everything will eventually work out for the best.
Books like these also-
2reaffirm your faith in the gratification of being a GOOD person
3good things happen to good people
4learn how to put your family first but with firm boundaries in place
5sometimes, putting your family first can also mean TOUGH LOVE and that’s okay because your intentions matter the most.
I am a BIG Sophie Kinsella fan since 2010. It’s been 14 years and I still love her books.
FRIEDA MCFADDEN THRILLER BOOKS
Of late, I've been into thriller books and those by Frieda are hands down my favourite, You will find some way more nicer than the others but all are amazing nevertheless.
My top 5 are
THE LOCKED DOOR
NEVER LIE
HOUSEMAID (Part 2)... although for this you need to read part 1 first
THE TEACHER
THE COWORKER
THE BOYFRIEND
& honestly, others are really good too. Just read them all if you can. You might have a different set of top 5 or top 6. I will most likely read every single one of Freida's books.
DNA Field & The Law of Resonance by Pierre Franckh
This book is for Metaphysics lovers.
A book I would strongly recommend to those who would like to go a step further & deeper into the world of Law of Attraction. We all know what Law of Attraction is and how it works on a basic level but to actually ACTUALLY understand how it works and why it works in a way that it does, this book is great.
This book explains why we attract things in our life - whether it is diseases or accidents or money or opportunities or positivity or negativity! Whatever’s happening in our life is happening because of our RESONANCE FIELD. We are responsible for our own resonance field. What we think, watch, talk about, believe, do … gets recorded in our field.
Anyway, read this book to go a step deeper and further if you are a DREAMER and wish to manifest meaningful things in your life. All my fellow Thetahealers will love and resonate with this book a lot. This book also shares research- studies and proof of how we do actually influence others and our environment with our resonance field.
So basically, positive, kind, loving people actually make this world a WONDERFUL place to live in BY SIMPLY BEING THEMSELVES. This book proved to me (yet again) that even if one person focuses on their healing and belief system, their surroundings will begin to shift immediately.
The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult
DISCLAIMER: FICTION, ABOUT WORLD WAR 2 & WHAT HAPPENED TO THE JEWS IN CONCENTRATION CAMPS.
Basically, it’s a heavy book.
I have never read a book (after Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire) that has made me weep so much. The whole time I was reading this book, I was a wet blanket. There were times my husband had to console me.
Then, why did I continue reading it?
Firstly, I am in love with Jodi’s books because they are fiction but also real.
Secondly, her subject matter and the research that goes behind it is so real that after reading her books, I actually feel WELL INFORMED & educated.
Thirdly, I feel a special connection with what happened to the Jews during WW2 as if it was a past life of mine…I don’t know for sure but it gives me goosebumps every time I read or hear about it. I intuitively feel like I know alot but I don’t fully recall so I had a longing to know what happened in those camps. Dark, right? But, it is what it is.
Infact, when I went to Anne Frank’s house in Amsterdam, I just felt a different energy - claustrophobic yet hopeful. What happened at Auschwitz Concentration Camp just hits differently to my brain and my heart. This book from the moment I started reading on Kindle, I JUST COULD NOT LEAVE… as if the device ( kindle ) was glued to my hands.
This book will teach you to - start feeling grateful for every little thing in life from the food in your house to the bed you sleep in to your blanket to your mattress, etc. MOREOVER, this book also redefines courage, bravery, HOPE, resilience, inner strength, perseverance, the gray area - there’s no right or wrong AND SO MUCH MORE. WHAT. A. BOOK. I strongly recommend this book because it teaches the aforementioned lessons.
Oh, and by the way, the book is written in a way that parts of it are warm, sweet, cinnamony, sugary, etc. wink The protagonist of this book is a baker and way this book is written, it will make you feel like you’re sitting in a bakery! REALLY!
This Spells Love by Kate Robb (FICTION)
Even though it’s commonly advised to not have regrets because everything in our life is a learning and what’s meant to be ours will find its way to us…BUT
ALL OF US CARRY REGRETS-big or small.
This Spells Love by Kate Robb addresses ‘regrets’ in a fun yet meaningful way. The protagonist of this book regrets some of her life decisions and feels like she could have a do-over. The story starts with a break-up which affects our heroine in a big way. She is heartbroken and in a lot of pain. This leads her to experiment with a magical love potion which takes her into a parallel reality where she gets to experience how life would have turned out had she taken a different set of decisions. She gets to cancel out her regrets with a new set of decisions. Our heroine realises a lot over a period of 4 weeks she spends in this parallel reality and then goes back into her reality and applies all her learnings. She also understands that all that she regretted was a waste in a way because everything that happened was ACTUALLY FOR THE BEST.
This book is METAPHYSICAL which is why I love it. It is not complicated though. Infact, it is a very very easy read. Please don’t take it as any random fiction book… learn from it. It teaches you to trust God’s timing.
Untamed by Glennon Doyle
I heard this book on Audible at breakneck speed. I think memoirs are where fiction & non fiction lovers meet. There’s so much to learn from someone’s life journey
The chapter called LIES (see the image below) is my absolute favourite one.
These are some of the very many lessons I learned from this memoir. I found myself fervently taking very many notes while reading this.
‘Rebellion is a cage.’
‘Men’s mental health issues stem from all the wrong definitions of power they have been exposed to since they were born .’
‘Don’t allow social media to define you … it has in many ways already. Create your own identity without the constant scrutiny of likes on your posts and stories.’
‘Boredom is a blessing.’
Mad Honey by Jodi Picoult & Jennifer Finney Boylan
I completed this (rather long) book within 9 days. In the last chapter, I was left weeping at 1 in the morning. WEEPING !!!
I have only recently gotten into fiction and I must admit after reading years of non-fiction, reading fiction now feels like non-fiction too because my mind is wired towards growth - understanding characters, their psychology, where they come from, why they think the way the do, lessons they’re learning, how could they have taken better decisions, how wise they are etc. I am in love with Jodi Picoult’s style of writing because of the way she allows every character to narrate their side of the story. So it’s reading everyone’s point of view to the same incident. Jodi’s research on a topic is highly impressive. Her books actually will leave you well informed, aware and up-to-date with what’s happening in the world… but in the form of a story. She’s co-written this book with Jennifer Finney Boylan and there's a reason behind it. I won’t give any spoilers.
This book is a murder mystery without any jumpscares… just varied perspectives.
Why Men don’t listen and Women can’t read maps by Allan & Barbara Pease
DISCLAIMER: Please don’t be a silly moo and diss this book by reading its title, it’s just meant to draw your attention and shake you up a little bit.
Also, if you want to feel SMARTER around people, read this book.
YES, this book will make you smart and also understand how to make the most out of your masculinity (if you’re a man) and femininity (if you’re a woman).
This book explains gender roles with research and will begin to extinguish all the judgement you could be carrying for the opposite sex.
This book will make you aware, well informed, open-minded in very many ways. It is based on years of research on understanding how the brain of a man & a woman has been developed, why gay/lesbian/trans people are the way they are (RESEARCH STUDIES PROOF) and so much more.
I strongly suggest you read this book because it will enlighten you to be more accepting of how we as humans are wired. We all are so similar yet soooo different.
Why Men don’t listen and Women can’t read maps by Allan & Barbara Pease will make you open-minded, loving, compassionate and accepting of everyone’s choice to be the way they are.
It’s very scientific (but easy) and fact based.
I think this book should be a part of 10th standard school syllabus because if this book is introduced this early on, our next generation will be not just more tolerant but also compassionate and accepting of everyone around.
NOTE: read what I have written in the image below -
Explosive Child
by Ross Greene
If you know anyone who’s having ANY KIND OF TROUBLE with their child, this book is THE BEST. It’s even recommended by Dr. Shefali Infact it’s because of Dr. Shefali that I read this book. This book has legit examples of conversations between parent and child and teacher and child in order to resolve the issue(s) a child is going through. We are quick to get irritated when children don’t understand our needs and expectations and Dr Ross Greene helps us understand the problem in a whole new way with loads of examples. It’s a VERY VERY simple read and my book is full of notes and highlighted areas in the first half at least… by the second half of this book, I couldn’t touch the pen and highlighter because I didn’t want to even bat an eyelid - so interesting. Must read. Strongly recommend it. Share with anyone you know who might draw value.
The Midnight Library
by Matt Haig
Fiction MARRIES Self Help == The Midnight Library
This book talks about REGRETS and how they weigh us down and result in depression.
Bogged down by regrets, the protagonist commits suicide at midnight; while shes' stuck between life and death, her soul makes her visit her parallel lives to re-evaluate the impact of different choices in her lifetime which she regretted NOT MAKING. This book is based on QUANTUM PHYSICS and yet it’s so easy to comprehend & visualise. I very very very very very very strongly recommend this book. It’s a must read. You really shouldn’t miss out on reading this. This book once started is very hard to put down... you'd want to read it more and more. It's actually a very POSITIVE BOOK.
Emotional Inheritance
by Dr. Galit Atlas
There are times when we can’t resolve an issue or a mental block based on our experiences in this lifetime. If we are curious enough to heal and grow in life, we stumble upon the concept of emotional inheritance
What does this mean?
We don’t just inherit money, business, property, jewels and surname from our ancestors but we also inherit their emotions & trauma too. This book discusses cases at length in the form of beautiful stories which will help you connect the dots and fuel you with AHA moments all along. I immediately ordered this book after hearing Dr. Galit on a podcast and I VERY strongly recommend this book. It’s the next step forward in your healing journey for which your ancestors will be very grateful for.
Healing Family Patterns
by Ariann Thomas
One of the best side effects of healing is that you end up healing your entire genetic line without them being actively involved in the session. We not just carry characteristic traits from our ancestors but their baggage as well. We not just get to inherit their wealth but their limiting beliefs as well. If you are ever going through something which confuses you into thinking -
Why do I feel this way? It seems odd as if it’s not mine!
Why did such a bizzare thing happen in my life despite of me not holding any weird belief around it?
For example-
If your marriage is on the rocks despite of you being in love with your partner “all of a sudden”.
Or
Despite of loving children, you suddenly don’t wanna have kids and you aren’t quite sure what why?
Or
Your marriage is on the verge of a divorce even though you never thought you’d see that day?
Or
You all of a sudden can’t trust your partner anymore.
Or
Despite of doing well in life financially, you suddenly feel like (like very randomly) that all of it might be taken away from you.
Or
Despite of doing well at work, you suddenly feel empty as if what you’re doing isn’t “good enough”!
Etc. etc. etc.
BY THE WAY, nothing is ‘all of a sudden’. Every trigger has its roots in the past.
IF YOU EXPERIENCE SUCH UNRELATEABLE ‘ALL OF A SUDDEN’ KIND OF TRIGGERS, CHANCES ARE IT IS ANCESTRAL TRAUMA creeping up on you just to be healed. I repeat, JUST TO BE HEALED. You are THE CHOSEN ONE in your family line to break this cycle (pattern). But of course when this is happening, a person can feel very overwhelmed (a roller coaster of emotions) but be rest assured, there are healers out there who can help you with this.
ATTACHED by
Dr. Amir Levine & Rachel Heller
Heard this book on Audible and OH MY GOD can’t express enough as to how important it is for every single person to read it/hear it…whatever tickles your fancy. If you’re single and looking for a mate, reading this book is non-negotiable for you. When two people meet with the intent of getting married, they must check each other’s attachment style instead of “kundalis” and other things because if the attachment styles don’t match; it’s a match made in hell. This book is full of examples and will teach you how to know your attachment style and what kind of a mate is best for you.
If you’re married, this book is still very good to help you understand how to better coexist with your mate with ease, respect and acceptance. Maybe you guys have an attachment style that isn’t the most ideal - so this book will guide you to work around it (if you allow it). Anyone interested in the realm of RELATIONSHIPS must must read this book. This book also helps you analyse your past relationships and why they didn’t work out. It’s an absolute keeper - this one!
SCARY SMART
By Mo Gowdat
{I’d say this book is synonymous with GENIUS}
It’s hard to talk about artificial intelligence and spiruality in the same breath but only a genius like Mo Gowdat could do this. This book combines the Law of Vibration, Law of Karma, Law of Pure Intention and many more Spiritual Laws into the world of robots. I heard it on audible in Mo’s voice and it was super amazing because the way he combined spirituality with technology gave me a hope for a very bright future. Mo spoke about approaching tech with a spiritual mindset to create a much better and brighter future, full of divine possibilities and infinite optimism. Mo’s a very successful engineer who worked for Google’s AI division and is a scientist with a spiritual hat on. EXCELLENT READ.
Family Constellations
by Joy Manné
Family Constellation healing is actually a type of healing modality that needs to be experienced to be understood better. You must watch this show on NETFLIX called
ANOTHER SELF!
It’s a Turkish show but you can change the language and then read this book for a better understanding and soon after book in a session with somone who is highly recommended. I had a very poor first experience in Family Constellation but that luckily didn’t shake my faith. I am hoping to experience it again soon.
The Boy who was raised as a dog by
Dr. Bruce Perry & Maia Szalavitz
This is one of the most important books I’ve come across. I not just found myself being lost in chapters but also weeping towards the end of almost every chapter which was an individual child’s case. Yes, this is a book full of real life examples.
The author has dedicated his life to work with children who have been exposed to early trauma. Dr. Bruce has left no stone unturned to explain to us the importance of raising children in the most mindful way possible.
Every chapter of this book discusses a horrific case which is paramount for us to know because sometimes we can take little little things for granted when it comes to childcare-
*from not picking up and speaking to our children enough to not recognizing early signs of mental instability,
*from leaving children alone in a trusted person’s guidance (which can totally backfire) to pushing children to share their pain with us when they are not ready.
Every parent tries their best to do what they can for their children but… certain slip ups can cost us a lot more out mind can fathom. I believe every single person in the world should read this book. Whether you’re a parent or not, this book will make you reflect on your childhood and push you to contemplate some repeated patterns in your life. I personally heard this book on Audible and found myself getting totally lost in the chapters for hours at a stretch. I am in utmost awe with how Dr. Bruce sat with parents of traumatised children to dig on the child’s early years (0-7 years…Theta State) and found jaw-dropping revelations.
{Believe it or not, this is exactly what I do in my ThetaHealing sessions to work on my client’s triggers}
What I personally love love love about this book is that it not just speaks about the problem but also the solution. Each chapter starts with a problem case (of a traumatised child) and includes HOW Dr. Perry solved that case. This book has made me feel 10 times more compassion for children than I already do. This book has encouraged me to love children unconditionally and hold them and shower them with love and happy vibes.
Because all every child truly truly wants is… a happy parent (or caregiver)… rest all are needs.
I really request you to read this book, PLEASE?
The Fakir by Ruzbeh Bharucha
I do not consider myself to be a fast reader and it’s rather rare that I pick up a book and finish it within a few hours. I love reading but I enjoy listening to audiobooks, podcasts and watching informative videos a lot too. This book, The Fakir, I am not even sure why I picked up because I genuinely do not know anything about Sai Baba. In hindsight, I am glad I picked up this book because I devoured it so quickly it feels like a FLASH! I also remember crying (joyfully & in awe) while reading this book. It is a very comforting book which will make you want to RECONSIDER your priorities in life. This book shows you what is really important, what truly matters when we leave our body to go back to the spirit world… home of our soul! This book holds the potential to transform you from being a ‘complaining box’ to a grateful person in the most profound way possible. The Fakir is not just a book, it’s a tool to shift your focus from ‘petty issues’ to ‘profound learnings’! I very strongly recommend this book!
The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read
by Philippa Perry
OH MY GOD! WHAT DO I EVEN SAY ABOUT THIS BOOK.
IT IS GOLD.
PURE GOLD.
If you could just read one parenting book, it has to be this one. I have legit taken notes while hearing this book on Audible. I will in fact publish a blog post on everything this book has taught (and reminded) me! This book contains profound wisdom we all are lucky to receive. ‘The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read’ has redefined conscious parenting for me. It has grounded me and for sure made me a better person and a better parent. This book is full of revelations that will make you go…
AHAAAAAAAAAAA!!! I urge you to get your hands on this book and give it to anyone and everyone you know who will read this book because it is one of the most awesome books I have come across.
Tiny Beautiful Things
by Cheryl Strayed
Compiled from an advice column called ‘Dear Sugar’ run by ‘Sugar’ aka Cheryl Strayed, this book has an amalgamation of letters seeking guidance, wisdom and straight-up advice. The letters are written by individuals from all over America to Cheryl at a time when Cheryl was known to be an anonymous ‘Miss Sugar’ running an advice column (for free) in the U.S. Later when her identity was revealed, this book came to light. This book has made me tear up almost every time I heard it (on Audible). It has so much wisdom and honesty that if you attract this book in your life and actually follow through with it, it means you are open to growth. As a healer and coach, we are trained TO NEVER GIVE STRONG ADVICE/DECISIONS IN A SESSION but encourage our clients to come up with decisions/solutions. This is because clients who come in for a session are wise, divine and whole. Partially contrary to that school of thought, this book is all about giving straight forward advice and the way Cheryl does so will make your heart melttttttt. Sometimes when we are in a pickle, all we want is straight forward advice. We WANT someone wiser than us to tell us WHAT TO DO even though deep down we KNOW WHAT TO DO. WE JUST WANT TO HEAR IT FROM A WISER PERSON.
In this book ( a compilation of letters of advice),
Sugar aka Cheryl Strayed is not shoving her opinion down anyone’s throat in her reply to the letters seeking advice,
but
only using the words of individuals who have written the letter to hold the torchlight to the path of growth and wisdom.
This book is amazing and a must-read for every single one of us, really!
It Didn’t Start With You
by Mark Wolynn
I started reading (actually hearing on Audible) this book just before I delivered my baby girl, the light of my life, my Noor and also now (postpartum) and you have no idea how many AHA moments I’ve had because of it.
‘It didn’t start with you’ sits so well with all the knowledge I’ve received through ThetaHealing which is something I dig for. I feel the truth is universal and should be uniform. Universal laws and facts must sit in harmony with each other. Everything I have learnt and understood in this book about genetic healing and genetic trauma is very much covered (in even further detail) in ThetaHealing. This book speaks about how some of our issues (pain, fear, anxiety, insecurity, limiting beliefs) has nothing to do with us but everything to do with our genetic line.
We all have some level of unconscious loyalty to our family members in our genetic line both paternal and maternal which is why we subconsciously take on their pain. This doesn’t happen to every single person though so one needs to watch out and be super aware.
Please read this book to open your awareness to the power of healing and genetic inheritance of trauma. This book is full of super fascinating examples which is something I thrive on. I feel real life case studies/ examples help us understand concepts and facts better.
So if this is something you’re interested in, please get your hands on this book.
What to Expect when you’re expecting
by Heidi Murkoff and Sharon Mazel
Before I tell you anything about this book, I must tell you two things->
1)Two of my doctors strictly asked me NOT TO READ THIS BOOK without giving me any reason.
2)I personally think (as a healer and coach) that they asked me not to read this book because this book talks about symptoms every month and all the complications a lot in detail which might play with a woman’s psyche if she is pregnant. If she doesn’t experience the array of symptoms mentioned, she might feel that she is not pregnant and will “create” issues subconsciously. This is actually true.
I honestly read this book because I was fascinated by it for the past 10 years when I was in Uni. I’ve always been fascinated by pregnancy and childbirth so I picked up and read this book, page by page because I was curious and fascinated.
Please do not read this if you think this book can mess up with your subconscious mind. Having said that, this book is genuinely very optimistic, empowering and FUNNY! YES, it has a cute and funny undertone to it!

This book was strongly recommended by my homeopath a year ago. I am so glad I took this recommendation seriously. This book is full of knowledge and wisdom that every parent NEEDS TO KNOW because when it comes to childcare there are so many myths, you’ll be shocked. If you are pregnant, get this book asap. If you are planning a baby, get this book now itself and read it. This book is GOLD, really! This has to be one of the most informative books I have read because it talks about->
Planning a baby
Pregnancy
Labour & Delivery
Taking care of a newborn at home & hospital
Normal growth and development of motor and mental skills
Immunisation
Breastfeeding
Feeding young children (solids or semi solids only after 6 months)
Choosing a Paediatrician, etc.
Maybe you should talk to someone
by Lori Gottlieb
Surprise jolts us to attention.
‘Maybe you should talk to someone’ did that for me if I were to give my reaction to this book in one line.
I am big on personifications and oxymoron happens to be my favorite one :-p
That’s what this book is, an absolute oxymoron.
I smile in wonder as to how a book can be so easy breezy and profound at the same time. ‘Maybe you should talk to someone’ is Lori’s memoir which is written in a way that even slow readers like me can manage to read fast enough whilst absorbing the true essence…ethos of this book which is to
seek help & guidance.
Lori says and I agree that professionals in the self help industry (such as therapists, coaches, healers) are supposed to be a container for the hope a wounded (unhealed) person cannot yet hold 🙂
Lori being a therapist is brave enough to talk about her breakup and denial that follows after. It’s cool to witness vulnerabilities to be honest, especially that of a therapist. She also speaks about her patients in a way that you will get invested in their stories. Every patient story is unique- painful, funny and profound. I found myself crying multiple times while reading this book. One of those times my sister-in-law (Priyanka) randomly walked into my room to be left flabbergasted as to why I was sitting alone with a book and crying. LOL!!!
John made me cry.
Julie lubricated my heart with tears.
And
Rita’s story instilled more compassion in me and reminded me that PEOPLE CAN CHANGE (slowly but surely) if given a chance.
John, Julie and Rita are the patients Lori talks about in the book.
If you are seeking a meaningful book which is light, funny and leaves your heart with warmth, then definitely pick this up. I am so happy I came across this book. I strongly recommend you all to read it.
Broken Open
by Elizabeth Lesser
I strongly recommend this book because it various topics such as
Bozos on the bus,
The hands that work on us,
Lightening up and falling down,
Parenthood,
The Shaman Lover,
Run Away, Bunny,
The Truth,
Terrors and miracles,
Open secret, etc.
that made me scream in joy and scribble notes both in the book and in my phone. This entire books sheds light on how we all are a work in progress and there is no such thing as perfection.
Perfection is an illusion which only ignorant people run after.
In a world where sharing vulnerabilities are mostly associated with the feeling of shame, this book in a way makes grieving seem natural and healthy. Whether you’re flourishing in life or going through a dark phase, you MUST READ THIS BOOK. It will bring a lot of things in perspective for you.
Some of my absolute favorite lines from the book are ->
“Grief is a tonic. It’s a healing elixir made of tears that lubricate the heart. Grief is a proof of our love, a demonstration of how deeply we have allowed another to touch us. “
‘Parenthood is a clumsy yet majestic dance in the flames. When you parent, you fall in love with a person who is always changing into someone else and will one day fly away like a soaring falcon.’
“Phoenix process of the highest order can be pursued by raising children. “
“Despair is a non discriminating fellow; when despair throws a late night party, he invites in every hopeless situation thy troubles the mind. “
“I trust the wisdom of the unseen hand in my child’s life. “
“I grant my child her god given right to fall down and rise up again like a Phoenix from the ashes. “
“Everything around us is a dynamic system fueled by the breath of change. “
Kundalini
by Om Swami
This book talks about the human chakras in utmost detail relating everything to the Mythology of Lord Shiva.
I consider myself extremely lucky to have been recommended this book by my ex-manager & now very dear friend Neha Prasad Jha. God bless Neha for encouraging me to wallow into this book which is full of wisdom that is a gift for readers who actually decide to pick up this book.
This book has separate chapters on every single (of 7 main) chakras of the human body. I read this book back in 2018 and I still remember from 2016-2017, two full years I was going around asking yoga enthusiaists around me what “chakras” mean and they had no flying clue.
So, that’s the thing with chakras… a lot of people either don’t know, or, have incomplete knowledge which is why this book is your best source of information.
I would very very strongly urge you to read this book because it talks about chakras in relation with ->
kundalini energy i.e. ‘shakti’,
lord Shiva,
goddess of fertitility, Parvati…
I still remember the scintillating stories from this book! Ahh, what a brilliant read! Must-have!
Rich Dad Poor Dad
by Robert Kiyosaki
I am not into Finance but I am perhaps the biggest fan of this book. I believe this book should be a mandatory read in SCHOOL. This book talks about Robert’s two Dads- one rich & one poor who taught Robert the value of investing, financial freedom and living a healthy financial life. This book talks about saving ideas, spending patterns and of course INVESTING!
I read this book very early on in life and I cannot tell you how much of an impact this book has left on me. This book address “how to live a financially healthy” life in step-by-step format. By the end of the book, whether you have a lot of money or not… you would want to INVEST it- either in FD/mutual funds/property/stocks/… etc. I suggest anyone who is 16+ MUST READ THIS BOOK. Nobody is too young ot too old to read this book. Must, must read !!!
I was so inspired by this book that I also read Rober’s wife, Kim Kiyosaki’s book called RICH WOMAN.
Women need to become financially independent now more than ever and this book is must-read for all my divas out there.
Ladies, you HAVE TO read this book, it’s non-negotiable.

The Universe Has Your Back
by Gabrielle Bernstein
In this book, Gabby (the author) talks about how much we all operate from fear and how that ends up creating a major lack, a void in our lives. She talks about how one should live a life where ‘Love Guides’!
She also insists that we all must ‘Step Back and Let Love Lead the Way’!
Some of my favorite quotes include:
“When you surrender your relationships to love, you are able to bring your higher self to the table.”
“The practice of being on a spiritual path isn’t about being the best meditator, or the kindest possible person or the most enlightened. The practice is about surrendering to love as often as possible.”
“ The pathway to healing occurs when you love yourself so much that the darkness from the past can no longer co-exist with your faith in the light of the present moment.”
“By embracing the Universe as your support system, you are no longer relying solely on your own power to solve your problems.”
To put a cherry on this beautiful cake; this book talks about-

A Fistful of Wisdom
by Om Swami
A dear friend and mentor of mine introduced me to Om Swami’s wisdom and I cannot thank her enough for that. This guy is probably the coolest monk ever! His musings will not just rattle your belief system but also strike a chord with your heart. His take on pretty much everything is life is just TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL. Some of my favorite lines from his book are-
“Compassion and forgiveness are simply synonyms of sacrifice. When you forgive, somewhere you sacrifice a part of your own existence, your respect, your dignity, yourself. But by forgiving, you also go beyond the shackles of ego. Besides, sacrifice is not a trade, you don’t expect anything for yourself in return, it is philanthropy, it’s an act of charity.”
“Surrendering to the Divine or having or having faith in God certainly does not mean that no harm will befall us or that everything will work out the way we envisage. It simply means that we accept the fact that there are numerous things that we don’t understand in the intricate workings of nature and that we are fine with it.”
This book talks about-
>>>The Puzzle of Life
>>>If Astrology is for Real or not?
>>>Karmic Trail & Psychic Imprints
>>>Mind & Impure Thoughts
>>>Single Parents & Broken Marriages
>>>Handling Criticism
>>>The Art of Apology

>>Do Prayers Work
>>The Loss of a Loved One
>>The Role of Suffering
>>>Your Karmic Account so on and so forth.
PS…If you find yourself extremely keen on knowing about the 7 Chakras and what they really mean, then you can also grab Om Swami’s book called KUNDALINI.
The Power of Subconscious Mind
This is by far one of the most challenging books I’ve ever read!
Why?
Because the time I picked this book, I had no flying clue about what the title meant. I just got a feeling that it will change my life and this feeling was enough for me to take a plunge into the deep end! This book is for the people who find it hard to believe in God, Spirituality, Soul; it’s also for the people who believe in some force out there and the Law of Attraction. This book is proof that YOU ARE WHAT YOU ATTRACT & in turn, YOU ATTRACT WHO YOU ARE! It talks about the power of thoughts and all the genius Science behind it.
To give you a teeny little brief-
This book will teach you how you have two minds- one that of your physical body (Conscious) and the other that of your soul/auric body (Subconscious). The latter is a million time stronger than the former and that’s why it’s DORMANT. But by doing some exercises mentioned in this book, you can learn how to tap into your Subconscious mind that will make you the best version of yourself allowing you to ATTRACT ANYTHING YOU DESIRE, ANYTHING!
This book covers-
>>>>The Treasure House Within You
>>>>How your own Mind Works
>>>>Miracles- Working Power of Your Subconscious
>>>>Mental Healing in Ancient & Modern Times
>>>>How to use your Subconscious Mind for Wealth, to Be Rich, to solve Marital issues, to find more Happiness so on and so forth.
THIS IS BOOK IS A MIRACLE & SHYING AWAY FROM READING THIS BOOK IS AN ABSOLUTE SHAME!

by Neale Donald Walsch
These books that tear me after every 3 pages. It has words from the Creator, The Almighty…the be all and end all of our existence.
