'Can I trust Astrology?' is a question I get asked a lot which is why I had to a create a blog post on this explaining my understanding on this topic. The topic of ASTROLOGY happens to always raise (sometimes even lower) eyebrows. But... can YOU REALLY TRUST ASTROLOGY?
There’s a huge hue & cry around Astrology as most of the believers have blind faith whereas others turn a deaf ear on to this nine-letter word! Nevertheless, we all resort to Astrology for guidance during tricky times in our life where we are desperate for answers but just can’t find any.
To clear the air, let’s first understand what Astrology truly is about.
It’s broadly categorized into calculative astrology & predictive astrology. The former is a branch of astronomy that is primarily concerned with the movement of planets & stars. Predictive astrology on the other hand, is about the impact of these celestial bodies on us individuals.
The legendary monk, Om Swami says, there are absolutely no “upayas” / “remedies” in either of them!
He also candidly says,
“If your astrologers charge you for giving you a remedy, they profit from it directly. If they tell you to do something where no money is involved, they gain from it indirectly by winning your trust.
You think, this is a good astrologer. He has no vested interest; he stands to gain nothing from it. But, the truth is today he’s telling you a free remedy, tomorrow he will tell you a paid one. Or, to you he’s giving a free amulet and he’ll charge the next reference client you will bring to this good fortune-teller.”
To believe or not to believe?
Well, I used to be (once upon a time) overly interested in Astrology (which is a study of movement & positioning of celestial bodies and its influence on human affairs). My interest piqued at the time I was on the lookout for my soulmate. I wasn’t understanding as to why my readiness to get married wasn’t enough for my husband to show up in my life. I still remember the day I called my parents to tell them “Rishta me, right now!” I was walking from my student accomodation to my university in Leeds back in 2013/14. As weeks grew by, I got desperate to know when Mr. Husband would show up in my life. I’d keep asking Astrologers (the ones who’d studied to and were PhDs) as to when my husband would show up and since it was a future reading, it would change again and again and again. This would infuriate me but trap me in a vicious circle of asking the astrologer to check my charts again. The reason I got invested in Astrology was because all the past I had, was detected correctly by the astrologers; they would very accurately talk about my nature and personality and that made me realize how legit this field of Science is. I was relying so much on Astrology to give me some answers with respect to to my marriage that I was falling prey to remedies which didn’t make much of a sense to me. But time taught me well.
I understand that Astrology is great to understand your past, your core nature, characteristics, outlook in life, potential strengths and weaknesses but that’s about it!!! Future predictions are highly unreliable because they are constantly changing. Our future is constantly changing based on our karmas (thoughts, intentions, actions, choices, decisions, etc.). Never rely on future reading from an astrologer because it’s subjected to change. I tell the same thing to my clients who come to me for Tarot Card Reading or even when I teach my students how to read Tarot Cards. I tell them that Tarot will help you reflect on and understand your past and present better but the future can change. Same with Astrology, future readings are a probability so don’t ask for one from an Astrologer because if it’s something you don’t want to know, it will unnecessarily create blocks and fears in you.
What can you USE ASTROLOGY FOR, then?
To understand your true nature, strengths, weaknesses, etc. To get a better understanding of yourself through this Science-
My Sincere Advice
In my humble opinion, YES there are times we cross paths with very intuitive & psychic astrologers who are able to guide us well & put us at ease during times we’re seeking support & guidance but to tell you the brutal truth, there is dearth of such individuals at the moment!
Always know that you will not need to rely on Astrology if-
->you are invested in self healing
-> you are in-tune with your intuition
-> you are on a spiritual path which empowers you to tap into your potential to fulfill your divine timing with ease, grace & glory
-> you are an optimist who has unshakeable faith in the Creator (God)
-> you ‘understand’ the law of cause & effect (karma)
-> you are aware of the power of your thoughts
The minute you raise your vibration to a point that you comfortably take responsibility for both the bad & the good in your life and stop playing the ‘blame game’, you take your power back from
A S T R O L O G Y ! The reason I say blame game is because a lot of people take what their astrologer predicts about them so seriously that they accept it to be true and start blaming their stars and astrological charts for everything that is happening in their life.
I AM NOT SAYING THAT IT’S SOMETHING THAT SHOULDN’T BE TRUSTED, ALL I AM STRESSING ON IS THE FACT THAT IF YOU ARE WISE ENOUGH TO TAKE OWNERSHIP & CONTROL OF YOUR THOUGHTS & YOUR LIFE, YOU WILL NOT NEED ASSISTANCE FROM THE PLANETS & STARS TO TELL YOU IF YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT PATH OR NOT… YOU WILL INSTINCTIVELY KNOW!
I loved what Om Swami had to say on this,
“Let’s gracefully accept the things that are not in our control & work on the others that are.If there’s any way to change your destiny, then it is by working on yourself!
Everything falls in place then.
Gems and stones, totems and trinkets, and what have you, cannot change the course of time! If your marriage is on the rocks, then both partners have to work on it.
If you are under debt, then you’ve got to cut down your expenses and increase your income!
Wearing a certain stone or pacifying a certain planet is not the answer if you ask me.”
I absolutely love how candid he is about his beliefs. This world needs monks & writers like Om Swami.
FUN FACT-
A future reading changes after a healing session because beliefs of the subconscious mind get shifted which results in your future getting shifted. Future is not set in stone. The only certainty you will have and feel is in the present moment.
